FEATURED AT NJ CREATIVES' MAY MEETING
Computer Experts to talk about protecting systems, updating hardware and
reaching new clients through strategic internet marketing
Paramus, NJ –April
22, 2004 -- How many times have you cursed your computer when viruses
invaded and programs were corrupted? When your computer slows down or crashes,
so does your work and revenue. Knowing how to protect your Mac or PC and when to
upgrade can save you hundreds of dollars, keep you on deadline and improve
client satisfaction and retention.
At the May 11th meeting, come learn from computer experts Ray
Forgy and Kenneth Kowalsky and Web Designer Stan Cohen and Graphic Designer Bill
Kelly what all creatives need to know to protect and enhance one of their most
valuable business assets - their computers. Also learn the best ways to reach
new markets and attract new clients by using computers strategically as a
marketing tools. The meeting will be held at the Bergen Museum of Art and
Science, located on the lower level of the Bergen Mall, Paramus, NJ. Networking
begins at 7:15 p.m., the program at 7:45 p.m. The meeting is free for NJ
Creatives members and $8 at the door for guests.
Forgy will be addressing systems issues, including assessment of
whether systems are performing at optimum levels, whether performance levels
have changed, and if so, why. He will also speak about when hardware and
software upgrades are needed, what to do to prevent internet hazards like "Spyware"
and viruses, and will also offer advice on protecting computers from devastating
virus invasion.
A 1972 graduate of the University of Oklahoma, Forgy began
working in the computer industry in 1987 with a new technology now known as
"wireless" networking, learning many facets of the industry, including system
design, programming, hardware and software training and networking. A computer
instructor at the Tenafly Continuing Education Program for over 10 years, Forgy
has participated as a speaker and panel member at several industry shows and
presentations. Owner of CT&T Systems in Bergenfield, New Jersey, Forgy provides
hardware, network support and training to small businesses and homeowners in the
North Bergen area. "Service, support, and personal service are the mainstays of
my firm" says Forgy.
Kenneth Kowalsky, owner of Blurt Inc., has been involved in the
search engine marketing (SEM) business since 1995. During this time, he has
helped a wide variety of clients generate targeted traffic to their websites via
search engine optimization and submission, strategic link building,
pay-per-click management and web design consulting.
NJ Creatives President Stan Cohen, offering his own expertise
along with marketing materials from Ken Kowalsky, will be talking about
creatives using their computers and websites as vital marketing tools. "Okay,
you have a website, now what do you do with it?", Cohen asks. He will answer
that question and others, talking about search engine optimization, Google
AdWords and how using websites to display creative portfolios can attract new
customers. Featuring member success stories, he will show how websites can turn
prospects into customers and how small advertising dollars can offer big
financial returns.
Cohen, creative director of Graphic Visions, has been involved
in computer graphics since his college days. Graphic Visions, now in its 10th
year, offers design, illustration, animation, multimedia and consulting services
to companies seeking a distinctive Internet presence. He earned his BS of Design
degree in 1979 at the University of Cincinnati, Department of Industrial Design
and has been associated with some of the leading electronic graphics companies,
including Digital Effects, New York City, Advanced Technology Systems, Fair
Lawn, NJ, Omnibus/Abel, New York City, Empire Video, New York City, and
Intelligent Light, Fair Lawn, NJ.
His computer-generated work has been exhibited in Minneapolis,
San Francisco, Detroit, Dallas and Boston, and his images have been published in
numerous books and magazines. The driving force to get NJ Creatives onto the Web
back in 1995, Cohen designed and implemented the first website for the
organization, which went "on-line" in 1996. Stan has produced "on-line" web
portfolios and "dot-com" websites for many of its members. As President of NJ
Creatives, Stan currently serves on its Board of Directors in addition to his
ongoing role as Webmaster.
William Kelly, who has a full MAC studio, is an award-winning
graphic designer with over 20 years of experience. He specializes in direct
mail, logo creations, newsletters, corporate brochures and Web/CD design. Kelly,
an NJ Creatives' board member, is currently its Postcard Director, creating
postcard designs and illustrations for each NJ Creatives' meeting. Kelly is also
a computer expert who will be offering tips to creatives on how best to maintain
their computer hardware and software and when to upgrade both.
Begun in 1984 by three freelance professionals who wanted to
exchange ideas and referrals, NJ Creatives has grown into a successful
non-profit, dues-paying organization that boasts a diverse and ever-increasing
membership of talented professionals. Members include writers, designers of
print and web media, illustrators, photographers, video producers and public
relations specialists.
