August 31, 2005 – Paramus, NJ – Licensing can establish a welcome new market for freelance artists, but success comes less from technical accomplishment than from networking expertise and persistence. So says Lisa Fondo, owner of Persistence of Vision, Ltd., a successful Teaneck, New Jersey-based licensing agency. For artists wishing to enter the field, or those who want to brush up on their knowledge, Lisa will present “Art Licensing 101,” a wide-ranging view of the field by the owner of a successful art licensing agency with worldwide scope. Lisa will discuss what art licensing is, who licenses art, how to get work licensed, and she’ll talk about some of the pitfalls of the trade. The NJ Creatives Network meeting will be held in Paramus, NJ, at the Bergen Museum of Art and Science, located on the lower level of the Bergen Mall. Networking begins at 7:30 p.m. and the meeting and program begin at 8 p.m. The meeting is free for NJCN members, $10 for non-members and $5 for students who show proper identification. Refreshments are available during the networking portion of the meeting. Lisa Fondo is the owner of Persistence of Vision, Ltd. a Teaneck, New Jersey-based art licensing agency founded in Los Angeles in 1990. Currently, the agency represents over 25 artists worldwide. Prior to starting the agency, Ms. Fondo worked in public relations and served as the Director of Acquisitions for an art gallery in Tokyo, Japan. While living in Los Angeles and New York City she served as Licensing Director for the largest puzzle manufacturer in Japan. She successfully increased the licensed art catalog for the company and raising its profile in the puzzle industry. In addition to running Persistence of Vision, Ltd. Ms. Fondo is a contributing editor at Art Business News. Begun in 1984, NJ Creatives Network, formerly known as S.W.A.N., has grown into a successful non-profit organization that boasts a diverse membership of talented professionals.
